CGPA to Percentage Conversion Explained
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is an educational grading system used in schools and colleges to measure overall academic performance. However, many job applications, government exams, and higher education forms strictly require your marks in Percentage format.
Common University Conversion Formulas
- CBSE Board: Multiply by 9.5 (e.g. 9.0 CGPA * 9.5 = 85.5%)
- Mumbai University (MU): Formula is (CGPA - 0.75) * 10
- Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU): Formula is (CGPA - 0.75) * 10
- AKTU / UPTU: Multiply by 10
- Standard 10-Point Scale: Most modern autonomous colleges use a direct multiple of 10.
Always verify the formula with your university's official examination cell, as writing the wrong percentage on a job application can lead to background check failures. You can usually find the conversion formula printed on the backside of your final semester mark sheet.
